Visit options

In-person visits

Many specialties are still offering in-person appointments, with COVID-19 safety procedures in place to keep you and your providers safe.

Virtual visits

Many specialties are offering virtual, telemedicine visits, in which you consult with your care provider using your phone, tablet or computer without leaving home. If you make an appointment for a virtual visit, your provider will send you complete instructions.

International patients

If you live outside the United States and are interested in seeing a Washington University physician, you must ask your personal physician or sponsoring organization to fax a referral letter and complete medical record to the office of the physician you wish to see. This is needed so we can review your records to determine if we can help you before you plan your travel. More information can be found on our International Patient page.

Both Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital have excellent patient and guest service teams who can help with interpreters, short and long-term housing for family members and other local requirements.

If you are accepted by a Washington University physician, all costs associated with the evaluation and any additional tests or treatments will be the responsibility of the patient or other sponsor. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept any charity care requests.
