WashU Medicine oncologists at the Siteman Cancer Center devote their efforts to preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.

  • Medical oncologists treat patients with medications, including chemotherapy, in outpatient and inpatient settings for nearly all types of cancers.

The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, based at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and WashU Medicine, is an international leader in cancer treatment. It is the only cancer center in Missouri to hold the prestigious Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute and membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has awarded Siteman Cancer Center​ an “exceptional” rating, based on a rigorous review of Siteman’s research programs. Siteman Cancer Center is one of the largest clinical programs in the country with more than 600 WashU Medicine research scientists and physicians who provide care for ​75,000 people, including 12,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients, each year.

Siteman offers access to:

  • 700 interventional clinical trials, which are investigational therapies not generally available to the public

Siteman is located on the Washington University Medical Campus in the Central West End. Satellite facilities are conveniently located at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in Creve Coeur; Northwest HealthCare, part of Christian Hospital, in north St. Louis County; Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital in St. Charles County; Siteman Cancer Center–South County; and Memorial Hospital Shiloh in Illinois.
