A hernia is caused by a weakening or tear of the abdominal wall. This weak spot can allow an organ or tissue to push through the wall. Symptoms may include pain, burning, tingling or a visible bulge on the abdomen.
The Washington University Hernia Center offers laparoscopic and traditional surgical procedures to treat hernias.
