Dr. Olshan is a WashU Medicine cardiac electrophysiologist. He is dedicated to diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) and ventricular tachycardia. Dr. Olshan performs catheter ablation using pulsed field ablation, radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation, selecting the approach that best fits each patient’s arrhythmia and anatomy. He implants pacemakers and defibrillators and has expertise in newer device technologies, including single- and dual-chamber leadless pacemakers, subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (S-ICD) and extravascular defibrillators (EV-ICD). He also performs left atrial appendage closure to lower stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation.

He is committed to working closely with referring cardiologists and primary care physicians across the St. Louis region to provide timely evaluation and coordinated long-term care, including follow-up for patients with implanted devices.

Dr. Olshan’s patient care philosophy is centered on listening, clear explanation and shared decision-making. He begins by hearing each patient’s story, helps them understand what is causing their symptoms, and goes through the full range of options with them, from monitoring and medication to ablation and device therapy. Together, they choose a treatment plan that fits the patient’s symptoms, overall health and personal goals. He aims to relieve symptoms, prevent complications such as stroke and heart failure, and help patients get back to the activities that matter to them.
