Jessica C. Williams, MD

Research Interests

Dr. Williams studies health disparities affecting people with disabilities, with a focus on improving access to mental health and substance use care. Her current work uses multimodal phenotyping of electronic health records to identify Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing patients and model their psychiatric and substance use outcomes, in efforts to identify barriers and facilitators to accessing behavioral health care. She also designs and evaluates educational interventions that build clinician competence in disability-inclusive care. Her research is supported by a NIDA K12 career development award in substance use. She is a WashU PROUD-MED Scholar and a scholar in the WashU Mentored Training Program in Clinical Investigation, and was selected for the NIMHD Health Disparities Research Institute. She is also part of the WashU Spark Convening on Disability Policy Research.
