What during your training led you to choose your specialty?

I love the special relationships I get to build in pediatrics – not only with my patients, but also with their parents. It gives me the opportunity to see my patients grow and change from newborn babies all the way up to teenagers heading off to college.

What brought you to Washington University?

I was given the opportunity to move back this past summer to be closer to home and am so excited to work at a place I heard so much about growing up.

Which aspect of your practice is most interesting?

Building long-term and lasting relationships with patients and families to be able to provide the best care I can to them.

What is your favorite part about working in pediatrics?

Getting to spend time with kids every day! It is hard to be in a bad mood when your patients are showing off their new shoes or telling you about their favorite super hero!

Are there any other new developments in your field that you are excited about?

The development of new vaccines and advancement in technology that will lead to saving countless lives.

Where are you from?

I grew up in St. Louis. I went to college at Mizzou and medical school at A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri. After completing residency in Kansas City, I practiced in San Francisco, California, for a year while my husband was finishing his fellowship. We are excited to have had the opportunity to move back home to be closer to family.

If you weren’t a doctor, what would you like to be doing?

I would be a counselor, which would allow me to build close relationships while also helping people through some of the most difficult aspects of their lives.

Anything else you would like patients and their families to know about you?

I have two daughters of my own. My husband is also a physician at Washington University, in Urology. We love going outside, cooking and baking together.
