Physicians in the Washington University Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research diagnose and treat patients on a full-range of endocrine and metabolic disorders, such as diabetes, high cholesterol levels, osteoporosis, overactive and underactive thyroid, thyroid tumors, disorders of the pituitary, adrenal and parathyroid glands, and disorders of the ovaries, testes and pancreatic islets.

Diabetes Center
Patients seen in the Diabetes Center will receive highly coordinated, comprehensive care provided by Washington University endocrinologists, specially trained foot nurses and a host of Barnes-Jewish certified diabetes care, education specialists and nutritionists.
Medicine Multispecialty Center
In the Medicine Multispecialty Center our physicians see patients for the diagnosis, treatment and management of endocrine and metabolic disorders such as thyroid diseases, adrenal and pituitary disorders, hyperlipidemia and osteoporosis.
Multidisciplinary Endocrine Neoplasia Clinic
The Multidisciplinary Endocrine Neoplasia Clinic and thyroid cancer center is a state of the art center that provides comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for patients with benign and malignant thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal tumors. Services range from management of benign tumors and hormonal secretion, to more advanced care.
Metabolic Weight Management
The Metabolic Weight Management clinic at Washington University School of Medicine is dedicated to the care of individuals facing obesity. By applying the most current methods, the clinic helps participants manage their weight and reduce the medical risks associated with excess weight.
The program promotes overall health improvement by treating the underlying metabolic disorders that cause overweight and obesity. It focuses on comprehensive weight management, including diet, exercise, behavioral modifications, and oral and injectable medications. There are no surgical procedures performed. The clinic works in conjunction with surgical and endoscopic weight management patients before and after surgery for optimal results.
Wolfram Syndrome International Registry & Clinical Study
The Wolfram Syndrome International Registry & Clinical Study is for patients living with Wolfram syndrome and their families and physicians who care for patients with Wolfram syndrome. Wolfram syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterized by juvenile-onset diabetes, optic nerve atrophy, and neurodegeneration.
Pituitary Center
The Pituitary Center under the direction of neurosurgeon Albert H. Kim, MD, PhD, and endocrinologist Julie Silverstein, MD provides multidisciplinary and comprehensive evaluation and treatment for a variety of pituitary disorders and conditions. Services are offered to those affected by acromegaly, craniopharyngiomas, Cushing’s disease, diabetes insipidus, hypopituitarism and other hypothalamic tumors, hyperprolactinemia, non-functioning pituitary tumors, parasellar meningiomas, pituitary cysts, prolactinomas, recurrent pituitary tumors and TSH-secreting pituitary tumors.
Transgender Center
The Transgender Center is committed to providing confidentiality and personalized, multidisciplinary care that addresses each individual’s unique needs. This includes providing compassionate staff that have specialized gender topic training and that promote an accepting and respectful environment, while also using patient preferred names and pronouns. Services offered include gender-affirming hormones, therapy, interdisciplinary group, referrals, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), comprehensive HIV, screening and pelvic care.
