LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) eye surgery is the most commonly performed laser refractive surgery to correct vision problems, such as near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism.
During LASIK surgery, a specialized ophthalmologist uses a precise laser to change the shape of the cornea (dome-shaped clear tissue at the front of your eye) to improve vision and eliminate the need for glasses or contacts.
