WashU Medicine Department of Radiology, also known as Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), provides a full range of diagnostic radiology procedures, including X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). We also provide nuclear medicine examinations and minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures.

MIR’s board-certified radiologists specialize in interpreting images from specific body regions and our detailed analyses provide referring physicians with the information needed to make an informed diagnosis. We deliver access to technological advances not found elsewhere, using the lowest possible dose of radiation to perform your imaging exam. From child-sized equipment in kid-friendly rooms to MRI scanners with wider openings for adult patients with claustrophobia or a larger frame, our radiologists do everything necessary to ensure your physical comfort while acquiring the highest quality diagnostic image.

MIR sets the standard for CT and MRI across the U.S. with the most advanced equipment among other imaging centers. Our radiologists conduct exams quickly, which means a transcribed report is immediately accessible to your physician through your electronic medical record.
